About Lou Chalmer
Hi, I’m Lou.
I’m an integrative natural medicine practitioner and counsellor based in regional Victoria, working with clients across Australia and internationally.
I support people whose health issues don’t fit neatly into a single diagnosis — particularly those navigating autoimmune disease, chronic pain, mast cell disorders, POTS, endocrine dysregulation, mould exposure, and trauma-patterned stress.
Most of my clients are intelligent, proactive, and exhausted from trying everything.
What they need isn’t another protocol.
They need sequencing.
My Approach
I work at the intersection of:
Nutrition
Genetics
Nervous system regulation
Immune signalling
Environmental load
Internal Family Systems–informed counselling
Rather than chasing symptoms, we look at which systems are under strain and stabilise them in the right order.
Sleep.
Hydration.
Fuelling.
Airway.
Immune load.
Gut depth.
Hormonal resilience.
Health improves most reliably when physiology is stabilised before complexity is layered on.
This systems-based framework underpins what I call Ecological Nutrition — an approach grounded in the idea that your health is shaped by the interaction between your biology, environment, behaviour, and emotional load.
It is evidence-informed, deliberately paced, and built for complex bodies.
If this approach resonates with you, we can begin by mapping your systems and building a clear starting point.

Why This Work Matters to Me
I came into this field after navigating my own diagnoses of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, hormonal instability, and complex post-traumatic stress.
I know what it feels like to be told that nothing more can be done.
I also know what it takes to rebuild capacity slowly and methodically.
Over the past nine years, I have immersed myself in understanding how nervous system regulation, metabolic stability, genetics, and environment interact in chronic illness.
That lived experience informs my work — but it does not define it.
What defines it is curiosity, precision, and a refusal to accept reductionist answers when the system is clearly more complex.
How I Work
I am not here to dismiss you.
I am not here to put you on a fad diet.
I am not here to overwhelm you with supplements.
I am here to:
Help you understand your physiology
Identify which systems need attention first
Reduce instability
Build capacity
And support you to make changes that are sustainable
I cannot heal you.
But I can help you understand your body well enough to work with it — rather than against it.
A Note on Philosophy
There are no quick fixes here.
There is structure.
There is sequence.
There is patience.
And there is a deep respect for the intelligence of the human system.
